A 50-year-old apartment at Meyer Road is Wes Anderson inspired condo with a touch of nostalgia and geometric forms. Peach Garden is an exercise in creating harmony amidst contrasting elements. The whimsical colour palettes breathe new life into the antiquated residential unit, providing the ideal blend of nostalgia and modernity. Fresh colours, warm lighting and plush furnishings create a sense of cosiness and homeliness in the big space, as well as a subdued vibrancy, perfectly complementing the nostalgic, arched doorways and terrazzo flooring.
The result?
A delightfully charming and wistful home that harmoniously blends the old and new.
Between Old and New

Modern eclectic residence, inspired by Wes Anderson's whimsical colour palettes. Curves are a consistent design element, together with a contrasting edge band for the cabinetry. Along with the use of different peach tones with complementary grounding colours and shapes on the walls, we managed to create a sense of subdued vibrancy that is not overwhelming. We were able to work the design around the owners’ lifestyle and hobbies; The husband loves to cook while the wife enjoys baking and the space allowed for both without conflict. As they also have two cats, we made sure that there is enough space allocated for the cat room within the play area so that they can be comfortable and constantly entertained in the playroom. The kids’ rooms were also designed to ignite imaginativeness and creativity. The space in the balcony means the family can opt to have their meals al fresco while enjoying the green view right outside.
From the beautiful terrazzo flooring to the arched doorways, everything about this apartment screams nostalgia and the challenge was to retain those retro and nostalgic elements which add character to this apartment while incorporating colours and other features to refresh the space. The spacious interior is definitely a plus point, but it also posed a challenge in terms of ensuring that the various spaces are well-connected to one another. From the living area to the dry kitchen, the kitchen to the dining area, it was important to ensure that there is a fluid relationship between the spaces. Peach Garden is a rather old apartment and I used colour to breathe life into it, all while keeping those stunning retroelements intact, a great juxtaposition of the old and the new.

Inspired by the whimsical colour charts of Wes Anderson’s movies, this home features warm pastels set against cool grey and whites. Buttercup-yellow barstools pop against the soft blush of the kitchen cabinetry, while a peach-toned ceiling draws the eyes to the dining area.
This almost half a century-old 2,800 sq ft condominium in the East Coast area, with its simple, repetitive geometric form and plain concrete exterior devoid of any ornamentation, may be dismissed as being old-fashioned or outdated.
Arches and curves are also prominent features, with the open-concept dry kitchen delineated by pink micro-cement flooring outlined with a rounded corner. The ceiling rose and classic cornices, as well as the terrazzo flooring, are subtle nostalgic elements that set off the modernity in the rest of the house. The apartment occupies a relatively large floor area. the spacious interior is definitely a plus point, but it also posed a challenge in terms of ensuring that the various spaces are well-connected to one another.
Strategically placed art pieces and plants around the living and dining areas liven up the capacious spaces, which can otherwise feel too expansive and empty. The apartment occupies a relatively large floor area. The spacious interior is definitely a plus point, but it also posed a challenge in terms of ensuring that the various spaces are well-connected to one another.
The pink and grey colour scheme, together with a terrazzo solid surface that matches the flooring, creates a cheerful and interesting area for baking and preparing light meals.
