A 17-storey condo on Holland Road, located in one of Singapore's favourite residential districts, this project is an elegant take on the modern art deco style. Representing luxury, glamour and exuberance, the style is characterised by smooth lines, fine craftsmanship and rich materials. The design concept is a fun take on Art Deco meets Modern Contemporary, reflecting their lively characters.
A timeless space where form follows function cohesively through the balance of materials, elements inspired by different eras and colours. It also helped that they have great taste and were very open to new ideas. The design was conceived before terrazzo made their official comeback and they were receptive to the idea of creating depths and subtle design on the wall through wall mouldings.
The introduction of plants adds life and warmth to the living space, which balances out several modern touches of marble and stones indoors. The division of the wall creates a horizontal line that draws your gaze towards the balcony, which provides an unobstructed view of nature, bringing outdoor and indoor together cohesively. A half-height feature wall behind the dining area is a focal area in this communal space, it adds texture and depth with the wainscoting details and the dark navy colour lends a sense of gravitas, complementing the framed art pieces above it. The other key area is the master bathroom, which the owners wanted to be a sanctuary for well-being. We changed the orientation to accommodate a double vanity and toyed with marble tiles in the likes of Fior di Bosco to achieve a chic look and feel.
Form and Function
As featured on Expat Living
Blending form and function has never looked so comfortable and effortlessly stylish in this home of a couple who enjoys entertaining and spending quality time over good music. The contrast in colours, wainscoting details, careful curation of the homeowners’ favourite prints and artworks, as well as a pair of gold-hued pendant lamps make the dining room a standout feature in the apartment.
The use of terrazzo for the kitchen countertop adds textural details, and pairs perfectly with the light blue cabinetry too, giving the interior an understated appeal. The overall design concept is a modern contemporary look, complemented with classical-style features such as wainscot panels. Blue is a colour of choice that runs through various parts of the home, to tie the entire look together cohesively.
